What is laser eye surgery?

Laser eye surgery is a general term which relates to a technique in which a cool blue beam of light is used to reshape the surface of the eye (cornea). The reshaping can be done beneath the flap (IntraLase Lasik) or on the surface (PRK/ASLA).

Laser vision corection is used to treat short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism as well as irregular or misshapen corneas. These are optical errors of the eye which have traditionally been treated with prescription glasses and/or contact lenses.
